Founded in 1936, AGMA represents approximately 5,500 singers, dancers, and production personnel who work at the principal opera houses and ballet companies in the United States. AGMA is a national union without a system of locals, and currently administers 75-100 collective bargaining agreements. Major employers of AGMA members include: the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Washington Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Baltimore Opera, Los Angeles Opera, San Francisco Opera, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, among others. AGMA is affiliated with the AFL-CIO; through the Associated Actors and Artistes of America.
