Founded by actors in 1933, SAG represents more than 98,000 professional actors and performing artists who work in the worldwide entertainment industry. SAG is a national union with headquarters in Los Angeles and two-dozen branch-offices across the country. SAG has collective bargaining contracts that cover members working in theatrical films, TV programs and commercials. Additional contracts cover interactive multimedia, industrial and educational films and videos, student films, Spanish language commercials, PBS productions, low budget features, and music videos. SAGs major contracts are The Basic Theatrical and Television Agreement, which are negotiated with The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. SAGs Commercials Contract is negotiated with the Joint Policy Committee of the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the Association of National Advertisers. SAG is affiliated with the AFL-CIO through the Associated Actors and Artistes of America. SAG is also a member of the International Federation of Actors (FIA), a global organization of performers unions.
