Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO
Executive Committee

Whereas, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO (IAMAW), is an international union affiliated with the Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO (DPE),

Whereas, our union brothers and sisters of IAMAW have scheduled a “Transportation Day of Action” for May 17, 2007, www.17May07.org,

Whereas, transportation workers and their families have been painfully living out the theme of the rally, “Enough is Enough,” as targets of Bush Administration and corporate efforts to trample worker rights, sell off American jobs, and shortchange transportation safety and security,

Whereas, transportation workers and their unions have been leading the fight to defend our homeland through greater security on our rail and transit systems, in our airports and airplanes, and at our seaports, and

Whereas, transportation labor must stand up to those who would sacrifice our transportation industry and its workers in the name of greed or political ideology,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT DPE stands with the IAMAW in its May 17, 2007 Day of Action and urges all unions affiliated with DPE to notify IAMAW of their support and invite their members to participate.
