WASHINGTON, June 6, 2025 - Earlier this week, the Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO (DPE) held leadership elections at its 2025 Quadrennial General Board Meeting. DPE’s General Board re-elected American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Secretary-Treasurer Fedrick Ingram as General Board Chair and Jennifer Dorning as President. DPE’s General Board also elected Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland as First Vice President and International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) President Matt Biggs as Treasurer.

The DPE General Board also elected the following people to serve as general vice presidents: Roxanne Brown, United Steelworkers (USW); Pamela Greenwalt, SAG-AFTRA; Everett Kelley, American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE); Tyler McIntosh, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE); Brandon Nessen, Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU); Ken Shirk, American Federation of Musicians (AFM); James Slevin, Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA); Alvin Vincent Jr., Actors’ Equity Association (Equity); and Sam Wheeler, Writers Guild of America East (WGAE).

The DPE Officers and General Vice Presidents were elected to four year terms.

“I am honored to continue as Chair of the General Board for the Department for Professional Employees. Life is better in a union for all workers, including the growing number of professional workers who want to join unions,” said AFT Secretary-Treasurer and Chair of the DPE General Board Fedrick Ingram. “Unions provide the most effective way to come together to improve wages and working conditions, and to advocate for professional standards, education and training. In our changing economy and employment landscape, professional workers need real voice and agency to advance their personal and professional interests—not only good wages and working conditions, but also influence in the quality of their work. The AFT was a forceful advocate for the creation of the DPE, and I am proud to continue our commitment to growing America’s labor movement in order to expand economic equality and to build worker power in every sector of the workforce.”

“I’m honored to be re-elected and continue my service to DPE’s member unions,” said DPE President Jennifer Dorning. “I congratulate my fellow officers and the general vice presidents on their elections. We are united by a common vision to grow and strengthen our unions and the labor movement while working together to confront the challenges that professionals face. Ultimately, we know we are stronger together. I am honored to be entrusted to lead this forward-looking coalition for the next four years.”

Ingram was first elected as DPE General Board Chair in 2021. Previously, he served as DPE Treasurer. Dorning has served as DPE’s President since 2018.
